Profile:
ATTRANS is a family-owned transport and logistics group founded in 1976 by Philip Attard Senior (Snr). Headquartered in Malta, the company has steadily expanded its international footprint over the decades, establishing operations in the Netherlands and Italy while maintaining strong roots in its home market.
Today, ATTRANSí core business focuses on the movement of import and export cargo across major European destinations, North Africa, and Eastern Europe. The company provides a comprehensive range of transport solutions, including full load and groupage consignments, covering standard road freight, hazardous goods, refrigerated cargo, and project transport. In addition, ATTRANS manages weekly groupage transhipments to and from non-EU destinations such as the USA, the Middle East, and Asia through its established European consolidation hubs. A key development in recent years has been the introduction of a reliable, direct weekly service to Tunisia, offering both dry and temperature-controlled transport solutions.
ATTRANS maintains a strong commitment to continuous investment and fleet modernisation. Its fleet predominantly consists of Euro 6 tractor units from leading manufacturers MAN, DAF, and Volvo, complemented by a diverse trailer portfolio such as mega box, refrigerated, tarpaulin, curtain-sided, low-loader, and flatbed trailers. All tractor units, refrigerated units and a selection of dry trailers are equipped with advanced onboard systems that provide real-time monitoring of location, temperature, and mileage, forming part of an integrated technology upgrade aimed at improving visibility, control, and operational efficiency.
Supported by strategically located, company-owned cross-dock and warehousing facilities that allow cargo to be securely held between transits, ATTRANS has also developed a dependable network of partners to ensure consistent service levels across Europe; thus enabling seamless door-to-door solutions even for complex, multi-modal shipments.
ATTRANS BV, established in Alblasserdam in 2009, serves as the group’s Northern European liaison office. The facility offers warehouse capacity for hazardous and project cargo together with managing Malta-bound traffic originating from Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. In addition to road transport to and from Malta, ATTRANS BV also operates as a forwarding agent for Southern and Eastern Europe, covering markets including Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Poland, Bulgaria, Ukraine, and Belarus, with the capability to reach selected Central Asian destinations.
The Genoa office, opened in 2011, strategically positions ATTRANS personnel within one of the Europe’s busiest ports. Located approximately 20 kilometres from the port of Genoa, the 11,000-square-metre facility includes truck parking, cross-dock operations, warehousing, a repair centre and additional operational infrastructure. As the main port of call for both the Maltese and Tunisian markets, Genoa functions as the company’s primary planning hub and the central service centre for the fleet.
In 2012, ATTRANS further expanded its operations with the establishment of ATTRANS North Africa in the Netherlands. Strategically located on the Dutch Belgian border, this division owns and manages its own equipment operating groupage and full load trailer service to and from Benelux, the UK, Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria.
Quality management is a fundamental pillar of ATTRANSí operations. The company has implemented a Quality Management System aligned with the ISO 9001 standard, accredited since 2014, ensuring consistent customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and continual improvement. Given its strong involvement in the pharmaceutical sector, ATTRANS also adheres to Good Distribution Practice (GDP) standards, safeguarding the integrity and quality of pharmaceutical products throughout storage and transportation, from manufacturer to end-user.
ATTRANS continues to grow steadily, employing approximately 170 staff and operating around 65 tractor units with over 500 trailers, with the fleet expanding by an average of 30 units annually. Strategically located depots across Malta, Europe, and North Africa ensure year-round operational flexibility and rapid response.
At the heart of ATTRANS lies its people, from logistics professionals and workshop technicians to drivers. The company’s international and highly experienced workforce is entrusted with handling clientsí valuable cargo with care and professionalism. Many drivers view their vehicles as a “home away from home”, reflecting the strong human values that underpin the organisation.
ATTRANS’ journey is one of steady evolution, built on consistency, adaptability, and lasting relationships. What began as a single-person operation has grown into an international transport group, yet still retaining the personal approach and family values that have defined the company for five decades.
