A Legacy of Experience
Led by its Managing Director and Senior Surveyor—a Marine Chief Engineer and unrestricted Ship Surveyor with a career beginning in 1982—Oceanus Marine draws on decades of hands-on expertise across yachts and commercial vessels. Recognised with the Maritime Personality of the Year and the Maritime Lifetime Achievement Awards, he has served in the Merchant Navy, advanced to Fleet Superintendent for oil and chemical tankers, and founded Oceanus Marine in 2010. Over the years, he has trained the company’s surveyors and staff, passing on his extensive knowledge and professional standards. Today, Oceanus Marine blends traditional seamanship with modern inspection technologies and regulatory insight.

Oceanus Marine’s dedicated team is composed of six surveyors and two supporting administrators whose combined expertise spans multiple disciplines: Marine engineers, Naval architects, Cargo
surveyors, ex Classification Surveyors and PhD-appointed Medical inspector. Together, they bring over four decades of experience across yachts, superyachts, and commercial vessels, with more than 55 dry-dockings, major conversions, and numerous newbuild projects completed. From inspections to naval architecture and project supervision, the team provides independent, practical expertise tailored to the needs of the superyacht and wider yachting community. Languages spoken include Maltese, English, Italian, Bulgarian, Russian, Hindi, Spanish, and Greek.

Oceanus Marine provides a full spectrum of technical, regulatory, and consultancy services for yachts, superyachts, and commercial vessels. Our capabilities include compliance inspections under CVC, NCV, SCYC, and CYC codes; CE post-construction assessments; pre-purchase surveys with sea trials; repair consultancy; drydocking supervision; naval architecture; and Malta Flag registration. For the wider shipping sector, we deliver hull and machinery surveys, flag-state inspections, tonnage and certification services, cargo and container assessments, on/ off-hire and ultrasonic inspections, lifting and safety equipment testing, gas-free and medical/MLC compliance, bunker quantity surveys, vetting support, and dispute consultancy. Oceanus Marine is appointed as Surveyors of Ships by the Government of Malta, ILO-certified inspectors and trainer, insurance-appointed surveyors, fisheries department surveyors, and court experts, and recognition from eight flag administrations.
